The Greater London Plan of was developed by Patrick Abercrombie (–). The plan was directly related to the County of London Plan written by Abercrombie inwith contributions by John Henry Forshaw (–). Following World War II, London was presented with an opportunity to amend the perceived failings of unplanned and haphazard development that had occurred as a result.
The Greater London Plan, as well as the County of London Plan, attempted to offer solutions to London’s rampant growth, incoherent architectonic development, increasing traffic congestion. Under the Act, the GLC was required to produce a Greater London Development Plan.
